In The Tinder-Box, a soldier discovers a magical tinder-box and uses it to summon three dogs who do his bidding. When the witch who owns the tinder-box tries to take it back, the soldier threatens to unleash the dogs on her. Despite her attempts to bribe him, the soldier refuses to give up the tinder-box and ends up marrying a princess with its help.
