The massacre at Paris happened on August 24, 1572 when members of the Catholic party killed thousands of Protestants in the streets of Paris. Many estimates put the death toll between 50,000 to 70,000 people. The massacre were in order to eliminate Protestant influence in France, and the event is remembered as the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre.
