Jude the Obscure

Jude Fawley is a poor stonemason who dreams of entering the university, against all odds and his lower-class status. His ambitions are often thwarted by economic hardship, class prejudice and his own mistakes. In the end, he realizes that no matter how hard he tries, the deck is stacked against him.
