Summary
Arthur Mervyn is a novel set in Philadelphia during the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793. It follows the story of Arthur, a young man living in poverty, as he makes his way through the streets of the dying city. He witnesses the death of close family and friends, as well as other tales of death and despair as he travels through the city. Despite this, he finds hope and strength as he forms meaningful connections with those around him.
