"August First" is a story about a young Chinese girl named Ting Ting and her family who experience the cultural revolution in China. Ting Ting's father is accused of being a "capitalist roader" and their lives are turned upside down. Despite the difficulties, Ting Ting and her family stay strong and find hope in literature and family bond.
