Summary
The narrator, a woman living in a rented house, is suffering from postpartum depression. Set in Victorian era, she is subjected to a treatment of rest and inactivity recommended by her husband. Despite of that, her condition deteriorates day by day and the yellow wallpaper present in the house preoccupies her. Her wandering imagination forms strange shapes and interpretations that keep her disturbed. Ultimately, she loses her sanity and locks herself in a room in a bid to liberate herself.
