The Battle of the Bays was a historic naval battle between the British and the Spanish fought in the Bay of Gibraltar on July 25, 1704. British forces, led by Sir George Rooke, defeated the Spanish, securing control of the bay and opening Britain's pathway to the Mediterranean.
