The Bride of Lammermoor is a novel about the ill-fated marriage of Lucy Ashton and Edgar Ravenswood. Despite family feuding and Edgar's unpopularity in the area, the two marry and eventually Lucy is driven slowly insane by her marital woes. She eventually commits a terrible crime and is consumed with guilt and regret.
