In Part 4 of The Prince and the Pauper, the pauper Tom discovers the cruel treatment of the poor by the King's guards. Meanwhile, the Prince disguises himself as a peasant and experiences life on the streets. They both realize the need for change and plot to switch places again. The King's illness becomes worse, setting the stage for an unexpected turn of events.
