To that complaining tone—

To walk the world alone.

A moment, and is gone.

Left half a life behind,

For ever from my mind.

Of that complaining wind.

To tell the tale of fear

Through many a weary year:

Thou needest not to hear.

Sin’s stern behests to do,

A heavy burden grew—

Yon mountain-range of blue.

No sunlight visiteth,
