Tristram picked him up and hugged him.  "You're not a dog—you're an ass, Wickie," he declared.  "And I'll wager you consider yourself a martyr into the bargain, you assassin of innocent bulbuls. What do you suppose I'm going to do with you—carry you, I suppose?"  He turned a wry, laughing face to his companion.
