The Moonstone

The Moonstone is a novel by Wilkie Collins about a valuable yellow diamond stolen from an Indian temple by a British Officer. Three Hindu priests vow to reclaim the stone and put a curse on anyone who possesses it. Rachel Verinder is given the Moonstone on her eighteenth birthday and it is stolen the same night. The novel follows a detective sent to investigate the crime.
