s looking to cause trouble, I thought, “Why would he care who brought me here?”

The youth sneered, “In this place, nobody disrespects me, Tang Deng. Hand over anything valuable you have, or you won’t last here.”

Anger surged within me. "Is everyone here out to bully me? I may not be strong, but my dignity isn’t for anyone to trample," I thought. Ignoring him, I tried to walk away.

Tang Deng reached out to grab me, intent on teaching me a lesson. As I neared the entrance, a girl about his age brushed past me, her cold gaze sending chills down my spine.

"Who is she? Just one look makes me shiver," I wondered, sneezing from the coldness.

Rubbing my nose, I mused, “Her gaze could kill me.”

Turning back, I saw Tang Deng ogling her, his eyes practically turning into hearts, drool beginning to seep from his mouth. Distracted by her, he had forgotten about me entirely.

Shaking my head, I continued towards the door. The girl called after me, “Hey, what's your name? Why haven’t I seen you before? Are you new here?”

I nodded and turned away, but Tang Deng, hearing this, snapped out of his daze and dashed towards me.

Feeling a burst of energy behind me, I instinctively tried to dodge but lacked the strength to fully evade. I was sent flying out the door but was caught mid-air by a figure who quipped, “Kid, trying out some new flying technique?”

Coughing up blood, I saw him take out a pill and make me swallow it. “What happened?” he asked, looking behind me to see Tang Deng’s lecherous grin.

Realizing it was the Dark Division Leader, Tang Deng quickly saluted, “Greetings, Chief Chen Ke.”

Chen Ke nodded and turned to me, “What happened?” I recounted the events. Seeming to weigh Tang Deng’s talent, Chen Ke was about to let it go when Chen Fei returned, breathless.

Calling out, “Big Brother, Big Brother,” he drew Chen Ke’s stern gaze. Realizing his mistake, Chen Fei corrected himself, “Chief, we need to hurry.”

Chen Ke turned back to head inside when Tang Deng saluted again, “Greetings, Vice-Chief.”

Chen Fei smiled and nodded, “What are you doing here?”

Tang Deng pointed at me, “He tried to steal something I saw.”

Chen Fei shot me a confused look, and then, recalling the genius he had seen, exclaimed, “Big Brother, he’s here.”

Chen Ke, visibly irked, threw a brick at Chen Fei who frantically shouted, “Chief, this is the genius I mentioned.” His anger fading, Chen Ke promptly appeared before me, lowering his voice, “Is this the one?”

Chen Fei nodded, and Chen Ke turned and slapped Tang Deng, sending his teeth flying, “What did I do wrong, Chief?”

“You bullied a new member and injured him. Consider this slap a light punishment,” Chen Ke growled.

Turning to Chen Fei, he ordered, “Take him to my chamber. I need to speak with him.”
