nyao looked at me with jealousy and envy, almost angry enough to rob me.

“Alright, Thunder, since you're now human, you need to act like one and not like a wild beast.”

Thunder eagerly agreed, “Got it, big brother!”

Chapter 18: Inheritance

As we traveled with Thunder, Ouyang Qianyao walked ahead, muttering to herself, seemingly upset that she hadn’t been able to make the Thunder Lion King her mount. If I didn’t have the bond of having saved her life, I’d probably be in a lot more trouble with her by now.

Seeing her sulking, I decided to break the ice, “Do you think it’ll be okay if I take Thunder to the Ghost King Sect?” Given her longer tenure at the sect, she was the best person to ask.

“You can, but you must make sure he behaves. He can’t reveal his true identity. If you present him as a mount, that’s fine, but you need to have the strength to back it up. Otherwise, you’ll have a rough time.”

On our path, we ran into the fat man and the elderly man, whose vitality had been partially drained by the sect master. They were arguing, ready to place a bet.

The fat man, sitting on a stool, boasted, “Brother, today I’ll show you what it means to soar like a dragon!”

The weak elder retorted, “Brother, stop bragging. If you can jump thirty meters high, I’ll eat my hat. Why don't you try jumping first?”

“Brother, you’re on!” The elder grinned mischievously, having nailed the fat man’s stool to the ground and smeared it with strong adhesive. “Brother, count to five before you jump. I need to prepare.”

“What are you preparing for?”

“Just count, brother.”

“One, two, three, four, five.” With a slap of the table, the fat man leaped up. A tearing sound followed as his pants ripped, leaving his lower half expos
