Chapter 10: A New World

When I came to, a wave of nausea struck me. It seemed that my body still needed more conditioning; being teleported around left me feeling like I might throw up, which would be embarrassing.

The world before me was utterly unfamiliar, yet the air was refreshingly pure. I took a deep breath, “Where is this place?” Scanning my surroundings, I saw mountains connecting in an unbroken chain, lush forests, and a babbling brook—a rare and tranquil scene.

Before I could finish taking it all in, a terrifying roar echoed through the air. I cautiously moved toward the source of the sound, sneaking like a thief in this unknown world, wary of potential dangers.

As I approached, the sound became clearer. I saw a young man brandishing a sword, pointing at a golden-maned lion, and loudly declaring, "Golden Lion King, today you won’t escape. Be my mount willingly, or face the consequences.”

The golden lion roared at the young man, ready to retaliate at any moment.

Seeing the lion's defiance, the young man charged with his sword. The lion, not to be outdone, lunged at him. The young man drew a glowing orb from his body, threw it into the sky, and shouted, “Bind!”

Instantly, the orb extended transparent walls around the lion, trapping it. The lion, unable to stop in time, crashed into the barrier with a howl of pain.

The young man laughed, “I don’t want to kill you now. Be my mount, or I’ll extract your monster core and use it for alchemy.” The lion roared in agony, seemingly not understanding his words.

Seeing the lion’s suffering, I jumped out and yelled, “Why won't you leave the animals alone?”

The young man laughed, “Animals? Kid, do you know what kind of beast this is? This is the ruler of this area, the Golden Lion King.”

“Who cares what kind of beast it is! Can’t you see that it’s injured?” I retorted.

The young man laughed even louder, “It’s injured? So what? If it wasn’t powerful, I wouldn’t even look at it. I have no time for you. Get lost.”

Ignoring me, he walked towards the lion, lifting his hand to place it on its head. The lion instinctively tried to dodge but had no room in its prison, its cries growing louder.

Without thinking, I jumped up and punched the young man. Now that I was a martial artist, I thought I could at least hurt him. But to my shock, it felt like hitting an iron plate.

The young man turned and kicked me in the chest. Warm blood spurted from my mouth as I fell to one knee, supporting myself with one hand while wiping my mouth with the other, cursing under my breath, “How strong is he? Probably just a bit weaker than my grandfather.”

“You want to die, kid?” the young man yelled.

I stood up, grabbed a wooden stick from the roadside, and charged at him again, avoiding us
