ing Master’s Divine Demon Sword for fear of it being stolen.

Seeing me charge once more, the young man grumbled, “Since you want to die, I’ll fulfill your wish.”

He flashed toward me, sword in hand, aiming for my neck. Cold sweat broke out as I thought, “Am I going to die in this unfamiliar place within half an hour? I won’t accept it!”

Dodging quickly, the sword only grazed my arm, leaving a burning cut. I gritted my teeth against the pain and glared at him.

“Impressive reflexes. Let’s play,” he sneered, putting away his sword and mockingly inviting me to hit him.

While he was distracted, the lion had started digging to escape. An observer might laugh at its comical, tongue-lolling digging, void of menace.

But I had no time to laugh; I fought desperately against the young man. He had murderous intent; I couldn’t hold back, even if my strength was inadequate.

After ten minutes, the young man grew impatient, “Is that all you've got? If so, I will kill you.”

At that moment, a gray energy shield enveloped me, deflecting his blow and sending him flying, coughing blood.

“Who are you, protecting this kid and injuring me?” he shouted, but no one appeared.

Standing, he attacked cautiously, but before his sword reached me, an unseen force shattered it. I clutched my chest, trying to stop the bleeding, but blood loss made me dizzy.

A voice addressed the young man, “As the chief disciple of the Twilight Sect, you find pride in bullying a child? Inform your master that the Ghost King Sect’s Ghost Dragon will visit soon.”

Recognizing the name, the young man fled immediately. Too weak to stay conscious, I saw a figure in black robes carrying me before everything faded to black.

Chapter 11: Testing Potential

It felt like a dream. I heard a sweet voice speaking to a servant, “Xiao Xi, you may leave. He should be fine now.”

“Miss, if you need anything, let me know. I’ll be just outside the door.”

Opening my eyes slowly, I managed to say, “Water... water, I need water.” The lady walked to a table, poured some water into a cup, and brought it to me, handing it over g
